Death's Door

I met my favorite cousin five days after he passed away.

The back story... my cousin was having a 70th birthday and everyone (my parents and aunt) were flying to Missouri for the big bash. I was excited about this trip. Plus, this side of the family is hella funny (more on that later also). That all changed when my mother called and tolded me to pack another dress in my luggage, because we were also going to a funeral.

"What, who died?!"

"Your cousin Greg"

"Who is Greg?"

"Just pack another dress, bye"

All I wanted to do was hang out with the family, laugh a few good belly laughs, drink a little and go back home. Dang, a party and a funeral this sucks and why am I just now hearing of this cousin named Greg? Y'all, I tried my best to get out of this trip. Needless to say I was up at 3am, at my parents' house at 4:30am and chillin in the terminal at 5:30am. Pissed off was an understatement.

Once we get to Missouri the family starts telling me about my cousin Greg. What he did for a living, how he loved Beam and Coke, how he learned how to cuss from his aunt, how he use to be a bouncer, and oh... he was a blogger, "Log on to the internet and check out his site." So I hop on my cousin's slow as laptop and started reading some of Greg's blogs.

At first I was a little shocked at his no holds bar blogs, but then I looked around the room and realized who he was related to. It makes sense that one of Jim's offstrings would be on the internet cussing, keeping it real, and talking shit. Every chance I got I would turn on my cousin's slow ass laptop and read some more of his blogs. We all got a kick out them, especially the one where he told all the women what to wear to his funeral. You got your wish, Greg!

Red dresses and black pumps, that was a funeral for yo ass. Some of the women looked like they just slide off the stripper pool. That's what he wanted so everyone was cool with it. Well, I'm not sure how the pastors up in the poolpit were handling it. I did look up to see one of the pastors chuckling while the comments from Greg's website were being read.

As I'm reading his blogs, thinking why am I just now getting to know this cousin? I would have loved to hang out with him. So Greg, you've inspired to me. Inspired me to start telling me story on this here internet. I'll work on getting to know my long lost family members later.

"And the monkey flipped the switch" Rest in peace to my favorite cousin, Greg!!!
